The Moorfoot area stretches about 18km North to South and 14km East to West, with a total area of 10306 hectares (103.06 sq km, 39.8 sq miles), including around 500 homes and a population of just under 1200 (according to the 2001 census).
This means that we are the largest Community Council area in Midlothian, but also have the lowest population denisty - about 0.1 person/hectare.
